Mirate Eye Center

Dr. Mirate is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

He has practiced ophthalmology in Valdosta since 1983, and has introduced many surgical advancements to the community, such as no-stitch cataract surgery, no-injection eye drop anesthesia for cataract surgery, and multifocal intraocular lens implants that reduce the need for glasses after cataract surgery.

Dr. Mirate’s other interests include music, aviation, and physical fitness. He is also an instrument-rated pilot. Dr. Mirate’s wife, the Reverend Galen Mirate, is a supply priest in the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia. Their son Milo, is a jazz pianist and computer science major at Georgia Tech.

Mirate Eye Center offers comprehensive eye care from a board-certified ophthalmologist and a team of certified assistants.

Eye exams, glasses, contact lenses, dry eye treatments, evaluation and treatment of glaucoma, cataract surgery, eyelid surgery, and evaluation for diabetic eye disease are just some of our many services.

We are open continuously from 8 a.m. through 6 p.m. on Monday through Thursday.  Mid-day and after-work appointments are available, as are same day appointments for urgent eye problems.
